Russian women have always laid a strong emphasis on the way they have been presenting themselves since time immemorial. They have always been advocates of self-expression in the best way possible. It was in the early sixties that women here pulled off short skirts, pointed ballerinas and beachy tops. It is bizarre for a present-day conservative and patriarchy-dominant nation like Russia.

One can easily tell if a woman is from Russia by merely seeing the attire that she dons. Additionally, not being fashionable enough isn’t culturally acceptable in Russia. So the notion of well presentability, along with peer pressure, makes Russian women all the more classy and stylish.

A renowned Russian saying which translates to “meet by clothes, see off by mind” very well explains the way Russian women lead their lives. A casual stroll on the busy streets of Russia shall fully convince you that these women are exceptionally stylish. It is due to these reasons that Moscow is perceived no less than some fashion capital. The fashion excellence of the city makes it recognisable as other fashion territories like New York City and Tokyo.

Women here do not forget to include footwear that is explicit as the ones with attention-grabbing embellishments or lacework. Lipsticks with bold hues like red and magenta are an all-time favourite of Russian women, so much so that they are known to use them for almost all occasions. Russian men, however, choose to stick to the essential clothing and muted shades. But mind you, this doesn’t make them any less attractive!



As to highlight their fancy traits, Russian women don’t just throw on short skirts and high heels; they are well aware of the ways to look peppy even with loose fit clothes and sneakers. Now that boyfriend fits are all over the place, women here are coming up with unique ways to style them. Women here can be seen ditching the regular clothing norms by carrying sneakers with little black dresses to the parties.

Due to the all-time chilly Russian weather, jackets and trench coats with leather and fur linings are pretty popular among men and women. Individuals can be seen showing off their shiny leather clothing throughout the year. The credit of spicing up the whole street-style game with winter wear goes to Russia and its innovative fashion designers.

Russian are believed to be very mindful while buying the clothing pieces. The present-day youth is known to invest in sustainable and versatile clothing pieces that they really love. They see no point in buying a clothing item that they shall wear probably once or twice out of sheer excitement and then let it lay untouched in their wardrobes.

Though western fashion trends have significantly taken over the Russian clothing customs, the traditional Russian attires still continue to mesmerise people across the globe. Kokoshnik, which is traditional Russian attire, has always rejuvenated the vibes of elegance and royalty within individuals. The Sarafan and the Russian shawls are also worth admiring for their enormous feminine beauty and grace.
